Three checks before you buy

Start with the room, the wall, and the warm side.

01 / Capacity

Will it cool my room?

The Magnum is rated for a well-insulated wine room up to approximately 900 cubic feet. Treat that as a starting point: glass, weak insulation, air leaks, heated floors, sunlight, and a hot warm-side room reduce real-world capacity.

02 / Opening

Will it fit my wall?

Plan for a nominal 15½-inch-wide by 9½-inch-high opening. The standard installation supports walls up to 6½ inches thick. Use the supplied installation template and verify the site before cutting.

03 / Conditions

What does installation require?

The warm side must exhaust into a large, ventilated, air-conditioned interior space. The cellar needs R-20 insulation, a vapor barrier, a sealed insulated door, unobstructed airflow, and a dedicated grounded 15A 115V supply.

Installation overview

Prepare the room before cutting the wall opening.

A successful installation depends on the room envelope and the adjacent space—not only the opening. Confirm these conditions before ordering trades or cutting the wall.

  • Vent warm air into an adjacent interior ventilated space, not a laundry closet, garage, or trapped-air room.
  • Insulate the walls, floor, and ceiling to at least R-20, install a vapor barrier, and seal all penetrations and joints.
  • Use an insulated door with weather seal.
  • Keep the warm-side exhaust and cool-side intake unobstructed. Do not add ducting to the unit.
  • Rest the unit flat for at least two hours, bench-test it for at least ten minutes, and use two people for installation.
  • Provide a dedicated, separately fused, grounded 15A 115V receptacle on the cool side. Use a quality surge protector and never an extension cord.

This overview does not replace the installation guide. Site conditions vary; a qualified installer or electrician may be required.
