Three checks before you buy

Confirm the heat load, the opening, and the warm side.

01 / Heat load

Will it cool my room?

The WR2500 provides 2,337 BTU/h of nominal cooling. Suitability is determined by calculated heat load—not room volume alone. Glass area, exterior exposure, insulation, air leakage, door use, and warm-side recirculation all affect performance.

02 / Cutout

Will it fit above my door?

Plan a 15⅝-inch-wide by 9¼-inch-high cutout. The unit is 15.35 inches wide, 16.22 inches deep, and 8.78 inches high. Allow service access and confirm that the soffit or wall can accommodate the full depth before cutting.

03 / Conditions

What does installation require?

The wine room needs R-20 insulation on every side and floor, a continuous sealed vapor barrier, double-pane sealed glass, and a gasketed insulated door. Mount through an interior wall and ventilate the warm side so rejected heat cannot recirculate.

Installation overview

Build the cellar correctly before cutting the opening.

The WR2500 depends on the room envelope and the adjacent warm-side space as much as the unit itself. Confirm these mandatory conditions before ordering trades or cutting above the door.

  • Insulate all walls and the floor to R-20 or better, continue the vapor barrier without gaps, and seal every outlet, light box, corner, door frame, and pipe penetration.
  • Use only double-pane sealed glass. Large glass areas increase the heat load even when the glazing meets this requirement.
  • Mount through an interior wall—never an exterior wall. Keep at least 12 inches clear on the cold side and 18 inches clear on the warm side.
  • Ventilate the warm side continuously and prevent hot exhaust from returning to the condenser intake. Enclosed closets or cabinets require active intake and exhaust ventilation.
  • Connect the drain hose firmly and maintain a continuous downhill slope without sags or traps.
  • Provide a dedicated 115V, 60Hz, 15A outlet. Do not use extension cords, switch-controlled outlets, or a shared circuit.
